I like to cruise out of the way unknown streets, alleyways and industrial parks.
It’s always off the beaten path that I find some of my best
bargain sources. Rarely on a main street, someplace obvious or in
plain sight. These off the beaten path bargain sources can offer
some of the lowest prices because their overhead is lower.
Such is the case with National Flooring Liquidators. Located in
Monrovia, kind of next to Home Depot… sort of across the street
from Walmart… down an industrial driveway, behind a warehouse
and next to a small power station lies one of the best sources in
town for flooring.
National Flooring Liquidators is a 30,000 square foot warehouse
full of carpet, tile, wood and laminate flooring. They buy only
first quality overruns, end of run, end of bolt, closeouts, overbuys
and discontinued styles in ceramic and porcelain tile, laminate
flooring, carpeting and hardwood flooring selling them to the public
at 30%-60% below original retail. You’ll see well known names
in the industry here: Shaw, Delin, Mohawk, Pergo, WilsonArt, Datile,
Interceramic, Armstrong, Alloc, Edge, Mannington and more.
Another one of the reasons the prices are so low is it’s
cash and carry operation… a no frills warehouse shopping experience.
National Flooring Liquidators offers no terms or financing, but
everything comes with a manufacturers warranty. It’s sort
of an “a la cart” buying experience.
But it was the pricing that really caught me off guard. Some Pergo
Everyday laminate flooring that comes in 5 different colors was
$1.99 a sq. ft. The Pergo Accolade (glueless) was $2.79 a sq. ft
and the Pergo Select was $3.79. The Shaw Laminate glueless flooring
was priced at $2.49-$2.59. They even had some Chinese knock off
laminate at $.99 a sq. ft.
The hardwood selection could have been larger but they’re
were still great deals to be had. Some African mahogany hardwood
flooring was very elegant at $4.49 a sq. ft. An engineered wood
by Eternity was $2.59 a sq. ft. The Brazilian Teak, Walnut were
both $4.99 a sq. ft.
The tile deals were eye catching. A 16” x 16” ceramic
tile flooring was $1.59 a sq. ft. A Mohawk porcelain tile closeout
was also $1.59 a sq. ft. There were lots of 12 x 12 ceramic tiles
in various textures and shades of beige and taupe from $.69-$.89
a sq. ft. There was even a travertine at $2.99 a sq. ft.
The largest selection was in the carpeting. Everything from overproduction
to closeouts, remnants and pull-ups were here. A plush carpet was
$.69 a sq. ft. A Mohawk level loop carpet was even less at $.59
a sq. ft. They had Berber carpeting from $.49-$1.99 a sq. ft. A
textured cream pattern by Royalty was $.99 a sq. ft. Some of the
deals here were absolute jaw droppers.
Usually at these prices the sales help needs help themselves. The
difference between here and some other discount cash and carry flooring
operations is that the sales help is really knowledgeable about
flooring. They answered all my questions and even offered up information
I didn’t know I needed to know.
This is a great source for contractors, builders, decorators and
“Do It Yourselfers” who either know how to install or
have their own people. They do not install but can recommend installers
who are bonded and licensed. The carpet padding is extra at $.20-$2.00
a sq. ft. and padding for laminate flooring at $.15 to $.50 a sq.
ft.
Anyone who is fixing up their home this summer should shop here
first. You’ll save a bundle.
