| Located in the old Marga Resale boutique
location is Maggie Rose Couture Resale. This, old school elegant
meets 1960’s glitz boutique fills the couture vacancy left
by many resale boutiques that have gone too trendy. Packed with
the best of the best here’s where you’ll find everything
from that perfect Chanel vintage gown or Louis Vuitton classic bag
to your trendy designer tops and jeans all at 50%-80% below original
retail or market value.
Racks of great dresses, jackets, pants, sweaters, blouses, tops,
shoes and handbags by Versace, Chloe, Chanel, Laundry, Black Label
Armani, Banana Republic, Herve Leger, Sue Wong, Tadashi, Terani,
Yves ST Laurent, Gucci, to name a few, along with shoes by Martinez
Valero, Marni, Peter Fox, Via Spiga, Ferragamo and more.
I started looking at a rack of vintage jackets. Most of them were
couture pieces from the 1990’s with pieces by Moschino, Escada,
Classic St John and the like from $49-$160. An Alan Austin black
brocade jacket surprised me at $145 and in the mix was also a pair
of signature evening beaded trousers with rhinestones by Da Nang
and the most amazing Kosmika ruffled rough edge jacket for $110.
Wow, seriously unique, fabulous finds.
Above me was a rack of good cashmere sweaters priced at $39-$69.
Ohh, how I love cashmere. Yummy! Quality labels too….TSE,
Neiman Marcus, United Colors of Benetton, Juicy Couture all were
here from classic crew to wrap sweaters. These were not your cheap
single or double poly but the good 4 ply quality threads that would
originally retail at over $120 each… many up at $200-$300
originally.
Up on the wall were several vintage, mint condition Louis Vuitton
signature bags. A Louis Vuitton Paris backpack looked brand new.
At $589 anyone who is a Louis Vuitton aficionado would pounce. A
classic barrel bag from the 1980’s showed some usage wear
& tear and was priced at $620. But two mint pieces, an overnight
suitcase at $1700 and a large square shaped duffle at $1900 were
fair buys if you are a collector.
I went totally nuts over a gold metallic leather Fendi bag. In
mint condition I spotted a while back in Vogue and fascinated about
it until I saw the retail price of $2800. Here this bag is $1900.
Though still out of my meager range, it’s a sweet deal for
any up and coming celeb. There are mint and near mint bags here
by Chanel, Luella, Mulberry, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Celine at around
$100-$1100. But an amazing Nancy Gonzales signature crocodile bag
was here for $2400 instead of $4000.
If you need an extra special gown for prom, or a cocktail dress
for a black tie event or even a dress for a wedding reception, look
no further. Here there is rack upon rack of gowns and dresses for
anyone from 17-70 years of age. A sexy slinky shear black cocktail
dress by Laundry was just $69 instead of the original 139. On the
high-end there was a Herve Leger pink cocktail dress at $1650 instead
of $2400 and an over the top Terani, full length ball gown complete
with beading and tulle layering was $900 instead of $2900.
After I looked at all the wonderful couture dresses and gowns,
I went back to racks that held basic wardrobe staples. A pair of
Rock N Republic jeans were just $69 and some Seven For All Mankind
jeans were just $49. A Theory coat was $98 instead of $300 and a
Max Studio NWT beaded top was a great buy at $70 instead of $160.
Before I left I tried on a DKNY black velvet ruffled coat. OMG!
This delicious piece was $380 instead of $790. Sometimes I wish
Spring was not just a few weeks away.
