The Thrill of the Hunt

In Los Angeles we rush around a lot.  Busy lives, hectic schedules make it hard to shop just for fun.  This last weekend we all slowed down a bit and from what I’m hearing everyone enjoyed the laid back pace.

Shopping should be fun and hopefully not rushed. Often, shopping is a chore, so we look for the easiest possible solution for what we need, often overlooking the best price or the best place to buy something. Some of us just want to get it done, preferably fast.

To shop well you have to be enthusiastic about what you’re buying, have planned ahead, done some research and be ready to pounce…. Or hold off till you find that perfect something to fill a need or void. The pace is not rushed. The fun is in the discovery of interesting, cool stuff…. at a great price.

Yes, there is the thrill of the hunt, but that’s not the total story.  The thrill is in the discovery of a new place, new product and different, unique items. For me,  the thrill of the prize is only after a good hunt. I hate to rush through the process.

I think of bargain shopping as a way to have fun and bag an advantages bargain… no matter what the item is I’m shopping for.

Lately, we’d been shopping for a wheel barrow… yeah really, a wheel barrow! I wanted an old crusty one that still worked great. So we shopped Estate and garage sales for the last 5 month until we found one for $8. Great deal and we had fun finding it.
