Summer Camps
As a parent, this time of year is filled with checking out summer camps and programs to try to get a grip on the costs of my daughters summer experience.
When looking at camps, we consider her interests, our finances and how she did in school during the last year. We also try to limit her camps expenses to around $1500 and include some kind of Summer getaway vacation as well. Not always easily achievable.
Sleep away camps are always the most expensive type of camp experience. But Los Angeles runs a few sleep way camps that are more than reasonably priced with lots of activities, themes and adventures.
One is Camp Hollywoodland Girls Summer Resident Camp. Located in Griffith Park, girls can have all the fun and frolic a sleep away camp offers without being thousands of miles away from home. Ranging from $200-$275 a week this camp is a super affordable alternative for parents of girls 6-14.

The boys camp, Griffith Park Boys Camp, around since 1924, also ranging in price from $200-$275 a week. Fees at both camps include lodging, meals, supervision, activities, field trips and more.

These camps fill up fast and we missed out on a couple of years because we dawdled. Well run and fun, both of these camps are great or kids and easy on your bank account.
