More Valentines Ideas

By Suzanne O'Connor

Since time is well spent with someone you love…. Try on these fun and affordable outings!

1.The Natural History Museum Exhibit, Diamonds: Rare Brilliance.
The exhibition features four of nature’s rarest colorful diamond masterpieces and outlines the incredible properties of gemstones and how the interplay of light and chemistry gives diamonds color.

2. Descanso Gardens has a Unique Tea Festival on 2/11-2/12.
Stroll amongst blossoming camellias and calming teas from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can take a guided walks, enjoy tea samples from Chado Tea, participate in art activities, and interactive performances.
Access to the festival is available with general admission to Descanso Gardens ($9).

3. Lady & the Tramp is Screening at the El Capitan 2/10-2/19.
They’re also offering Valentine Dinners February 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 at 5:30 pm (prior to the 7 PM movie) in the Lower Lounge. Guests must purchase both a movie and dinner ticket to attend this event. Call 818-845-3110 for reservations.

4. Go to the Beach or Mountains for a romantic picnic.
Pack or buy some tasty sandwiches, take a good bottle of wine, couple glasses (no plastic),  a blanket and find a spot where you can stay watch the sunset.  I’m fond of Angeles Crest or by the Mt Wilson Observatory.

5. Too chilly to go out for a picnic?  Prep a meal of your choice followed by your own chocolate fondue!

It’s the thoughtful heartfelt effort you make that counts, not the expense.
