Massage Therapy
Life sometimes comes to a standstill when you are dealing with medical issues or physical injuries. Suddenly all that freedom you had to do what you wanted to do is gone and you’re forced to contend with the physical issue at hand.
My back issue reared its ugly head at the San Diego Zoo last week really put a crimp on my time and physical well being. Heck, it hurt even when I tried to sleep. Walking around, sitting and standing was a painful issue. My back was frozen up and in serious pain
Last week I made 4 visits to my incredible chiropractor, Mary Kaiser Cole. These helped a great deal, diminishing the pain. But my body was holding tension and I still wasn’t ready to go to a wedding we had to attend Saturday. So I blindly went searching for a nearby massage therapist to help my muscles relax.
I was lucky enough to find Eloise Albrecht.
Before we started the massage she went over my physical history. Not just medical, but what I did for exercise, work both present and past. She was interested in finding out the core issue so she could help.
My personal history of 25 years of dancing/ combined with the dozens of neck, back and knee, elbow, shoulder injuries accrued during those years combined with sitting at a desk most the day now help paint the picture of why my body was reacting like it was.
Working with that information she got to work massaging or “Sweet Talking” my muscles in to relaxing and releasing tension. Not harsh tissue massage, but firm and steady, with occasional deep work at certain key spots as needed and only as much as I could deal with.
In short, it was the best damn massage I ever had…. And I have had more than a few.
From that one hour visit I was able to go to the wedding, enjoying myself without pain even while standing during the ceremony or walking up a steep hill to our car afterward.
Eloise isn’t cheap at $80 for an hour massage, but the results were worth every penny. Her work is thorough and focused that the results are what you’d expect out of 2 massages. I will definitely be going back.
If you’re having some physical issues and you think massage therapy may help I’d give Eloise a call. You’ll feel better.
