Fathers Day Fun
When hubby said he wanted to do something different for Fathers Day. I jumped on it. Honestly how many brunches can you go to? How many wallets, electric tools, BBQ, clothes or electronic gadgets to you really need? I was looking for something a bit different.
So I started looking around… Fishing? Theater tickets? Movie? Hmmm. Then, it hit me.
We went to El Cid for both a meal and some Flamenco dancing.
El Cid is housed in a really old building that was originally built for G.W. Griffiths to screen his movies. It still has a really old feel to it…. It could use some refurbishment. But still it’s cool…..Old Hollywood is alive here.
Dinner was better than expected with good portions and good Spanish wine. I had the Salmon with Salsa Chipotle (yum!) and Kevin had the Pork Tenderloins. Both came with soup, salad, bread and a chocolate mousse desert that was killer! And the Flameno show was terrific. High energy!
When I originally called, I asked what the specials were for Fathers Day. They had Fathers for Free and kids at about half price…. That’s a deal. May be that’s why I jumped at the idea. Normally $42 a person for a 3-course meal and a show, the bill was $42 for moi, $25 for our teenage daughter and Dad was free. That of course didn’t include drinks. I am told they run specials pretty often, so it’s a good idea to call ahead and see what they are offering.
There is more than food and Flamenco here. They have Open Mic Mondays, Short Film night, Web Series Unplugged Night along with other scheduled bands and performances.
A fun way to spend the night and experience a bit of Old Hollywood.
