Estate Sale Shenanigans
This last weekend, hubby & I went to this professionally organized estate sale by TLC Estate Sales. This was our first time going to one of their sales. Last year, after we bought our house, we needed some patio and garden items and went to estate sales to find them. But now we don’t need hardly anything, so we mostly go just for fun. Unless we know there is something there we know we want, we don’t get there right as the sale opens, but a few hours later.
Better than a garage sale, Estate Sales are great ways to find high quality, unique items at really good pricing. We gotten quite a few great bargains at Estate Sales. You never know the wonderful item you may find that were accumulated by someone else first. It’s like a bargain treasure hunt!
So we got there at 11:30am ish and low and behold…there was a line of about 20 deep to get in. No one seemed to much about what was going on. Apparently they were only letting in 4-8 people shop at a time. I’ve been going to Estate Sales regularly for a couple of years now, this was ridiculous. I hate waiting in line to get into any sale, I rarely do it. So we immediately split.
On the way home, we figured that they only let that many people in because they probably didn’t have enough staff overseeing the sale. At other sales, I have seen 4-10 people handling each sale. This one, there couldn’t have been more than 3. The best company so far is Hughes Estate Sales. They have lots of help, good security and there are no lines… except at check out. Everything is clearly marked and finding the sales location is usually easy. They are still the best run sales I’ve been to. TLC, so far….not so much so.
