In regard to the many Starbucks closures, I was wondering where will their coffee making equipment, supplies, inventory, be sent to? Will it be auctioned, sold at deep discounts, or recycled into new Starbucks out of state?

Just put up a post on scavenging at www.myfrugallife.com/blog_pamphyila.html

As I just snagged some good stuff around Coldwater Canyon. I don't get to Beverly HIlls much - but I always keep an eye out in my travels around the city. I got a wood/glass vintage showcase cabinet off the street off Western Ave. because a friend alerted me. And I told him to come over quick to get the vintage 50's dining room table that had been put out in the trash in my neighborhood!

Another tip - at the old apt. complex where we used to live - it always was a good idea to check out the area near (& in) the trash containers at the end of the month - as that was when everyone moved out & a lot of good stuff ended up in the trash! I furnished our whole patio with outdoor furniture I gleaned that way. And I have outdoor chairs I schlepped back to the city to put outside my apt. - because if they "walked" I wouldn't worry about it, as they were gratis to begin with!

My niece pulled a similar stunt on my [then] brand-new sofa and spilled a puddle of peanut-butter and chocolate. Luckily I had gotten the sofa in microfibre suede and it actually wiped off with a wet cloth. I've had the sofa 3 years now and still no stains--microfibre really is as good as they say!

Just back in town from working 5 weeks in South Carolina and realizing I want to get my new MAC but remembering its MERCURY RETROGRADE. M.R. is somethng everyone needs to know about. It affects communicatioon, transportation, etc. Have a look at it on any astrology website. During this time one must NOT purchase any electrical devices, new cars, start new jobs or sign a contract for a new home/condo/etc. It sounds as if your new MAC may have been purchased during this time. Also the broken Blackberry may have been purchased during a previous M.R. but it may be that it just gave out during this M R period since MR concerns itself with communication among the other mentioned areas. Good Luck and thanks for all the wonderful info on this website!

I've found a lot of the old standbys at dollar stores. My mother used Comet. Back then it worked as advertised - sprinkle it on the stained sink, hum a tune, then wipe off with a sponge. Ta da! I think the formula has changed. Spic n Span doesn't seem as good either. That was my grandmother's favorite for floors and walls.
Barkeepers Friend?

I really like Barkeepers Friend, that sucker works on just about EVERYTHING and leaves it white, W-H-I-T-E. It works especially well on scuff marks, you know, when you're cleaning a cookie sheet in the sink and it leaves those dark marks. It's not cheap though....but I love it.

I will definitely try Ajax if I see it and compare the two!

The funny thing was, up to the point that that woman picked on my daughter, the behavior, though aggressive was mostly well balanced. Women were hoarding bags they had grabbed which had a sense of unnecessary greediness to it. There had been no verbal sparring or rudeness... just a bit of greed.

There was some good behavior too. Several taller women were actually helping those of us who are shorter grab items on the upper shelves etc. It wasn't all bad.
It was that one woman, who by the way, was of white /anglo decent, who was so badly behaved. I suppose it only takes one, hyper focused, self obsessed individual to be obnoxious to quell the fun.
BTW.... Someone should have said something to those women at the Theory Sale. A few choice words would have embarrassed them and perhaps a few words to management at the sale too.

At the LF Warehouse Sale there is so much product and sales help that everyone is happy. Conversation are struck up, new friendships are formed. It's really nice to watch. Though everyone is out to grab a deal, there isn't that sense of dire, dog eat dog urgency.
