OM Gosh!
Ideeli… A Bad Business
Couple of years ago I was really hyped about these online Flash/ Sample Sales. With dozens opening up, competition steep and the supply chain being tight, quite a few have slipped away.
I have continued shop several of them knowing that often the stated retail is a bit higher than I should be and that the discounts were not always as low as ‘walk in” sample sales.
Oliver’s Blunder
Funny how one little event can spin your world out of control for a couple of days.
Our 1-year old cat, Oliver is now let outside for a couple of hours a day. At first he was supervised while he was learning the layout of the yard between the house and the office. Now we check on him ever half hour or he checks in with us in the office (we leave the door open for him). The transition seemed to be going smoothly and Oliver seemed to be careful… that is until he started chasing squirrels and birds.
New Kitten
The big news at this household is the adoption of a new kitten.
A promise made to our daughter this last year insured we would be adopting soon. Plus with LA County cutting the Animal Shelters budget, we knew this Spring would bring us our new family member. My daughter insisted upon a kitten. Though an adult cat would make hubby and I just as happy, we wanted to keep the promise to our daughter.
Renovation Surprises
Here’s a good one….
Did I tell the one about the 1926 home whose garage had no foundation?
Our contractor found that that our garage was not level and had a floor water leak. Looks like our garage had been sitting nicely on our lot for the last 84 years without a foundation! Yikes!
How Charter Cable Messed Up and T- Mobil Saved the Day
Setting up a new home isn’t easy. Especially if you run a business out of your home.
Our internet server in both locations is Charter Cable. We ordered new service at the new house to start on the 11th and keep our old connection open through the end of January at our old house. Essentially two accounts open at the same time for a two week period.
OMG! We’re in Escrow (part 3)
I am in an astonished state at how smoothly everything is going. Seller credited us a large amount for repairs, appraisal went through, loan funding and underwriting went through, just waiting for a walk through and signing. But the repairs are looming and will cost serious bucks!
OMG- We’re in Escrow Part 2
Our new home is a 1927 Character home with 1200 square feet, 2-bed / 1-bath, a breakfast nook, formal dining, high barrel ceilings, upgraded electric and copper plumbing, big closets (huge plus) and all hardwood floors, good kitchen and bath. A bit smaller than we had hoped for, but it screams cute and has possibilities for additions and changes as needed
OMG! We’re house hunting!
Time to let ya’ll in on a little secret. We’ve been house hunting for the last 10 months.
The serious hunt started in March ’09 when we started working with our first Realtor. He showed us dozens of homes. From the gutted, REO homes for pennies on the dollar to beautiful move in ready.
House hunting is not a game for the weak kneed or faint of heart.
