When to Hit the Malls

Big stores are closing and gloom & doom predictions of retail are rampant. Most of the media and experts believe that retail store closures are caused by more people shopping on the web instead of in–store

Things That Irritate

Driving around LA has become quite the headache.

On any day of the week, you will encounter incredibly rude drivers, badly maintained streets that damage your car, heavy traffic at all times of day as well as difficult and expensive parking everywhere. It’s daily life here in L.A. and it will get worse, much worse with the social engineering the city is implementing.

The Gift of Time

Filed Under: Zannee's Tips, Local fun

As a Mom of a now technically adult child, my needs as a Mom have changed.

For Mothers Day, please don’t buy me a “Best Mom” tee shirt or mug. Really. I’d only wear it around the house and the mug would gather dust.  I love chocolates, fragrance, flowers as well as a great meal, but those things are not at the top of my list

Valentines Day is Coming!

The word here is thoughtful. Retailers want you to buy that piece of fine jewelry, those long stem Red Roses in a box, that delectable meal at an expensive restaurant.

Don’t get me wrong, those are all good things to do and you should do, if you have the financial ability.

However, some of us don’t.

A Few Days Away

Summer speed by so quickly that we were almost left without any breathing room. A hasty getaway was arranged at the last minute and we went off on basically a road trip up to the Central Coast.

We didn’t have a real itinerary, but wanted to land in Paso Robles for at least for two days of wine tasting.

Los Angeles Flower Markets

Flowers are a big deal and a big expense on Valentines Day. So why pay top dollar when you can go shop the Los Angeles Flower district and save 20%-50%?

The Flower District of Downtown Los Angeles is a 6 block floral marketplace, located within the LA Fashion District. Bordered between 9th St & 7th and Maple & San Pedro streets.

Discount Movie Theaters in Los Angeles

I grew up in a home that never missed the Oscars…. Even if we hadn’t seen all the nominated films.  We love going to the movies. Of course, we passed our love of film on to our kid, who is now a bonafide movie buff!

But seeing a movie now at a theater, is an expensive experience.

Goofing Off at the Surplus Store

We went out to research a store this past weekend, and when we got there they had closed early because it was a Holiday Weekend. Really….

With time on our hands, we stop into a local Burbank Navy/ Army Surplus, The Supply Sergeant. Army Surplus stores are great. Prices are always pretty low on fun basic items from tees to jeans and earthquake supplies to fatigues.

Shopping off the Beaten Path

I love snooping around neighborhoods I don’t normally shop. Discovering small mom and pop outlets, resale boutiques or warehouses is more fun when you don’t know they are there.

So last week while seeking out a new outlet store, we drove down into Pico Rivera by following Telegraph Rd South from the Citadel Outlets.
