It’s the Little Expenses

Years ago, after hubby & I went through financial counseling, we learned that it is the little expenses that will destroy your finances. That morning coffee at Starbucks, those lunches out with the girls, buying bottled water, gym memberships, dinners out, movie night out etc. All those unnecessary expenditures that we love to make and should rethink.

A Thoughtful Valentines Day

The word for Valentines Day is thoughtfulness. You don’t have to spend a gazillion bucks make your special someone feel special.

So here are some frugal ideas!

For All Romantics:
- Instead of giving flowers, give a “live” plant they can plant in their garden.
- Deliver one long stemmed, red rose everyday to their office for a week. Labor intensive… but a great way to get your point across!

A Vintage Kind of Mind

I have always shopped vintage stores. Whether they’re clothing boutiques, used furniture or appliance stores or collectibles and doo dads emporiums. For me, it’s about affordability as well as quality and design. But I got to admit, it’s more fun to shop vintage than regular stores. Always a lot of, “look a that” or “do you remember these?”

Discount Movie Theaters in Los Angeles

I grew up in a home that never missed the Oscars…. Even if we hadn’t seen all the nominated films.  We love going to the movies. Of course, we passed our love of film on to our kid, who is now a bonafide movie buff!

But seeing a movie now at a theater, is an expensive experience.

Weekend Bloopers

As adults we’re suppose to have learned how to be able to communicate effectively.

Well, that didn’t happen as well as it should have this last weekend for a Fathers Day get together.

Our Tight Budget Summer

This Summer we have some expected …and unexpected household maintenance and repair expenses. In order to afford these repairs without using credit or digging into savings, we have implemented some cost savings measures into every aspect of our lives.

Hmmm, I was under the weather this last weekend, so a few things aggravated me more than usual….
-Amazon Prime no longer gives free shipping if your order is under $25…. Really?
-Gasoline is going up to the point that it’s more than just irritating..
-The LA Times is now $1.65 to pick up during the week at the news stand. More money for less information…. Really?!

But what really got my goat….
