Over the weekend I usually clear my desk and hit a few sales. But this last weekend I got into “clearing out” mode. I needed to get long-term storage stuff out of cardboard boxes and into better containers.
Big Lots is one neat bargain place if you have to pack up and store a bunch of product.
With a huge move looming….I need plastic storage bins, plastic sorting drawers for toys, other plastic containers and a trip into Big Lots today had me buy my first purchase of 3 -10 gallon storage bins for $12.99 including tax. That’s $3.75 a piece.

I was elated enough to come home, sort through my mom’s boxed stuff and transfer some of the most important stuff into the plastic bins. I have all of moms original LA’;s Best Bargains and Bargain Hunting in LA stuff, I am keeping a lot of her original newsletters and Bargain Shopping in LA books. What she did was awesome! Plastic boxes with secure lids is the only way to store this stuff and hope it will last.

Then I went thru the kids closet, OY! So much stuff! We headed back to Big Lots to get storage drawers for the remaining toys she couldn’t live without. I got several more of the 29 quart Steri Lite drawer boxes from Big Lots for $10 instead of $13-$15 elsewhere. I threw my kids last remaining childhood toys in them. They should stack easily in a closet or garage.
Now if I ever get onto the family pictures.

I like a nice glass of wine at the end of the day to relax and unwind. Though I am not against “two-buck chuck” and have enjoyed many glasses of it, I like trying other faire as long as its tasty and well priced. I try to keep my wine purchase at under $12 a bottle. I have had much more expensive wines that didn’t match up to the moderately priced ones.
I have quite a few wine places near me to peruse for tasty wines. Trader Joes gives written reviews and descriptions with many of it’s wines, most are extremely well priced. But I have occasionally picked up a bottle that didn’t make it past the first glass.
But, I have done extremely well of, at all places… Ralphs. Yeah, as a whole it’s an overpriced, over the top market. But it does have its charms. When I want a bottle of wine, it’s convenient with a decent selection and these little tags that tell you what kind of wine it is and if it’s an award winner. So I look for the well-priced, award winning wines (awarded a gold medal) that have the highest price reduction and have done pretty well.

I do not have a Bev Mo near me, so my best options are Trader Joes or Ralphs. Oddly enough, I have done better at Ralphs.
