My Babyliss Hairdryer

Back in 2007, I was able to get an incredible hair cut at the Sassoon Academy. Initially it was for a Beauty Bargain segment for a news station, but in the end I was the winner with a fabulous cut I’ve been wearing a version of ever since. Thinking outside the box and working with real professionals, pays off.

The Sassoon peeps were pretty happy with the segment and 2 weeks later, their PR firm sent me a gift basket as a “Thank you” with all sort of hair product including a Babyliss Carrera Pro Hair dryer.

Back to School Prep

Getting the kids heads focused on going back to school is always a challenge.

During the Summer, all of us would avoid talking about going back to school and would instead concentrate on Summer fun, the last lazy days of Summer with family Beach trips and BBQ’s.

Secretly, I was quietly on top of it by Mid July.

Relying Too Much on Technology

We love technology. It does make many things in our life faster and easier. We actively use a lot of it. Waze and Google Maps, Amazon Echo and dozens of different Smart phone apps as well as owning 5 computers ad an iPad.

We get it.

That said, we also do not let technology rule our lives.

Things That Irritate

Driving around LA has become quite the headache.

On any day of the week, you will encounter incredibly rude drivers, badly maintained streets that damage your car, heavy traffic at all times of day as well as difficult and expensive parking everywhere. It’s daily life here in L.A. and it will get worse, much worse with the social engineering the city is implementing.

The Deal Tease

As I’m sure you can imagine, I am signed up on nearly every discount / coupon /retail list there is.  It’s a barrage of never ending deals in my inbox everyday. I get 100’s of promotional emails with some deal being offered. Many are tempting, some much more than others. Many promotions are less than stellar and are just marketing gimmicks. Other promotions are jaw dropping.

A New Home Project

Filed Under:

When the heat kicks in, we try not to run the central air at night. On most hot days in our 1927 Mediterranean home we shut off the air at 7 ish and open all the windows. Old home are built for air flow since Air Conditioning wasn’t around back then

A Home Depot Problem

Lately my hubby seems to be regularly running up to Home Depot to get hardware, parts, and home improvement items. Especially since we’ve been finishing up our bathroom project. He has bought all sorts of little things we didn’t need or use and had to return them.

Heck of a Deal

We needed a floor lamp for our living room. We actually have needed one for 7 years. But I’m picky. I wanted a wrought iron, Spanish styled floor lamp to go with our 1927 Mediterranean home.  I have found a few over the years but they were too ornate and I didn’t want to pay what they were asking.

While I was cruising the EBTH.com, I found one that looked perfect.

Always tell ‘em BargainsLA sent ya!

You can’t assume anything when you’re bargain shopping. If a product is discounted, there is a reason. I want to find out why.

When I research, I ask direct questions. How did the product get here? What year is it from? Who liquidated it? How can they sell it so cheaply?

Tossing vs. Hoarding

When I was a little girl, I remember my grandmother saving everything. Having lived through the great depression, she valued thriftiness and resourcefulness.

I, on the other hand have a penchant for tossing everything.  If it isn’t being used, get rid of it.
