Recession Shopping

Yep, this bargain babe is still shopping. Even in a recession, you have to shop sometime. Over the last year, with all the stellar sales I have acquired some pretty nice clothing pieces. Some trendy seasonal pieces, some wardrobe builders, some just for fun and I find that now I am not as easily tempted by outstanding cute clothing pieces.

For the short term anyhow, I am sticking to purchasing what I need. No over the top purchases. I have enough clothing and furniture, my appliances and electronics work, and the cars are running! My needs are pretty basic… for awhile anyhow. Come Fall I will need a new rain coat and some new sweaters and possibly some new shoes. But nothing over the top. Until then its window shopping only.

As a parent, what I am spending money on is Summer Camp expenses (can we talk expensive!), the kid’s summer clothing, shoes and entertainment expenses are racking up. Could it be that I am not spending because my kid expenses are so high this summer? 

I wonder how long my urge to purchase will be in check. I’ve been known to go for many months without an apparel purchase. Perhaps I go without until that must have item shows up at below wholesale… then look out!
