Pain in the ^*&* Monday.

Did ya ever have one of THOSE days? Where everything is so much more difficult than it should be?

I started the day nice enough sending out a Bargain Alert, posting sales and answering e-mails. Then my hard line ATT line phone went dead at 8am. After 2 hours and 6 transfers from repairs to business to repairs and back again, we got it fixed. Of course it was someone one not running on all 4 cylinders that that changed the disconnect order from the 26th to the 10th.  Just my luck.

I got a quick reprieve and while all revved up from fighting the ATT business office, I did an on air interview for KCal 9 with the very nice Randy Paige.

Then I went to run some household errands and I couldn’t find a decently designed, low priced hand broom and dust pan set.

You used to be able to find them everywhere… Big Lots, 99 Cent Only, Target, Home Depot, even Ralphs fror around $3-$. This great design was great for every job from brushing off blinds and shutters to sweeping up.
I looked everywhere. Driving from store to store and coming up empty-handed. I decided I try one last hope…. Virgil’s Hardware in Glendale. If any body had it, it would be this old time hardware store.

Though it was out of my way they had what I needed for $6.99….. Though I thought the price a bit high for plastic broom set, I bought 2.

Look, I’m moving. I gotta have a couple decent hand brooms.

While I was out hunting for the hidden hand broom, my Blackberry phone went kaphooey!  The dreaded hourglass kept coming on whenever I dialed. It also wouldn’t connect with my blue tooth so I kept having to pull over to talk on the phone.

I came home and spent the rest of the day writing. Since I seemed to be hexed, I figure staying home was a safer bet.

Tuesday has gotta be better than this.

Storage Bin Deals

Over the weekend I usually clear my desk and hit a few sales. But this last weekend I got into “clearing out” mode. I needed to get long-term storage stuff out of cardboard boxes and into better containers.

Big Lots is one neat bargain place if you have to pack up and store a bunch of product.
With a huge move looming….I need plastic storage bins, plastic sorting drawers for toys, other plastic containers and a trip into Big Lots today had me buy my first purchase of 3 -10 gallon storage bins for $12.99 including tax. That’s $3.75 a piece.

I was elated enough to come home, sort through my mom’s boxed stuff and transfer  some of the most important stuff into the plastic bins. I have all of moms original LA’;s Best Bargains and Bargain Hunting in LA stuff, I am keeping a lot of her original newsletters and Bargain Shopping in LA books. What she did was awesome! Plastic boxes with secure lids is the only way to store this stuff and hope it will last.

Then I went thru the kids closet, OY! So much stuff! We headed back to Big Lots to get storage drawers for the remaining toys she couldn’t live without. I got several more of the 29 quart Steri Lite drawer boxes from Big Lots for $10 instead of $13-$15 elsewhere. I threw my kids last remaining childhood toys in them. They should stack easily in a closet or garage.
Now if I ever get onto the family pictures.
