Finding Local Events
Looking for something to do this weekend?
Spring is here, the weather is great, it’s time to go out and see the world.
It’s very hard to find a complete listing of local events anywhere, but a few choice websites should keep you in the loop out and about in the world.
Recently opened TheCultureVulture.org lists venues and local goings on in chronological order. Though incomplete, as it grows I am sure the listing will too. Sign up for their free weekly e-mails to keep on top of the best pics.
Of course, one of my faves is Gold Star Events. This FREE site gets discount tickets (Savings of 40%-50%) for theater, sporting events, comedy shows, shopping, and other entertainment venues in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco and San Diego, I check it once a week for ideas. Do sign up for their weekly emails. You’ll often get notifications for limited super bargains on hot ticket shows.
If you’re into antique shopping and swap meets, there are more than a few websites that list them. I regularly check these:
Antique Show and Flea Markets
Metro Mix Los Angeles is throwing it’s hat into the ring listing special events, sales, nightclub appearances and more.
The Skirball Center lists events other than its own (isn’t that nice) Listings are by category or type of venue and include some of the best in Southern California. They also list current art and gallery exhibitions, film screenings and cultural exhibitions, children’s camps, classes, readings and lectures, tours. Very cool.
I do like the events and theater listing at the LA Weekly. Though it can be a bit confusing to scroll through, it does have a good off the beaten path choice of theater, culture and events. You also can look through neighborhoods or type of event.
The LA Times does a reasonably good job in The Guide.
And of course if shopping is on your mind, do keep an eye on my Hot Sales page
I update it all week long with final updates Friday afternoon if I think the sale is worth it.
If you have more event calendar pages or links I should know about…. Send them in.
No one should sit at home without anything to do… unless you want to.
Go out and have some fun!
