Bargain Finds

Smart Buy Outlet

By Suzanne O'Connor

Some outlet stores are so big they are exhausting to shop. That’s not the case at Smart Buy Outlet. These well organized, well lit stores have a good selection without being overwhelming…. all at 30%-70% below original retail.

Buying liquidated merchandise from manufacturers as well as Costco, Sam’s Club, Macy’s, Amazon and Bed Bath and Beyond, you’ll find some great buys in housewares, bedding, linens, furniture, small appliances, clothing and more.

First thing I went for were the linens. I picked a Charisma Hand Towel for $3.99 instead of $8. A Ralph Lauren Victoria Falls Bronze Coverlet was $77 instead $250. An Eddie Bauer Home King Down Comforter was $90 instead of $150 and a Ralph Lauren Queen White Down Comforter was $92 instead of $200.

Though the selection was limited, there were some good buys on furniture. A good quality leather sofa was $539 instead of $900 a leather love seat was $500 instead of $800. A cute, upholstered in toile & gingham child’s rocker was $99 instead of $200 and a slightly flawed (small chip on the bottom) executive wood desk by Style @ Work by Thomasville was a great buy at $359 instead of $1100. A Room Gear 5 drawer white dresser was $199.

Small Appliances are well represented with a Rowenta perfect Steam here at $179 instead of $300. A Rowenta Precision Valet garment steamer was $90 instead of $150.  A Water Pik Water Flosser was $48 instead of $80 and an Electrolux Oxygen Canister vacuum was $178 instead of $300.

Women’s clothing had some solid deals but very few better labels. I did find an amazing INC blouse for $24 instead of $70 and a super cute Juniors summer dress by Speechless for $25 instead of $80.

I wasn’t enamored with the men’s clothing. But there were solid bargains in basics. Some Union Bay walking shorts were $10.99 instead of $17. And a group of Calvin Klein tees were $10 and some Kirkland LS button down shirts were $9.99.

In the back area were some food items along with some glass and dinner ware. I picked up 4 Gibraltar tumblers for $1.39 each to add to the ones I already have and a couple of cans of Bush’s Baked Beans for 50 cents each.

The Huntington Park store has weekday specials of an additional 20% off from 12-4 and also has Thrifty Thursday when they discount an additional 50%-75% on a variety of items in-store.

With 3 locations, Smart Buy Outlet should be on your Bargain Shopping radar and I’d pop in from time to time to bag a deal here.
