RER Demolition

By Suzanne O'Connor

Not only is RER Demolition a terrific demolition company (Ellen DeGeneres has used them). But they also salvage good, reusable items out of upscale homes and industrial building and resell them to the public at prices that are cheaper than your average garage sale!
RER, Inc is a certified Contractor for the “Reuse People of America”.  If it’s usable, it will get recycled either by the Re-Use peeps or RER.

You never know what you’ll find here, but I saw a mirage of items including built in stoves, appliances, iron gates, water heaters, tubs, hardwood flooring, sinks, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, toilets, pavers, electrical, plumbing, roof trusses, lumber, asphalt shingles, bricks, gravel and even dirt.

DIYERS will have fun here. Most items need some cleanup and refurbishment and some are near new and in perfect working order. Everything here is sold,  “As Is”.

With that in mind, recent good buys included a used pool heater at $250. A Jacuzzi pump was $50. An apartment gas wall heater was $50. A used water heater was $50. Some rectangular lever windows were $50. An outdoor, cement and wrought iron wishing well was $500. A good selection of Interior doors were here starting at $25. An eight foot square, single pane window is just $50. A Steel handrail is $50. An exterior door with leaded window was $25.

You’ll find some furnishing here as well. A wrought iron & glass table is a mere $10. At a garage sale it would go for $50-$70. A bunch (6) of shabby chic looking metal patio chairs were $100. A modern round glass occasional table was just $25. A pair of candle stick lamps w/ shades were just $5. A rattan back, dining or occasional chair was $10. Retail is easily $75 +! A wrought iron tea cart is $25. REtail is $120 +. A new nickel finished modern chandelier was just $20.

There are a lot of kitchen and bath items to rummage through. A large bathroom vanity/ cabinet with brown marble top and older sink for $125. New perfect would run $1500 or more. Bathroom sinks starts at $10. A built in GE dishwasher was just $50. An older very small Sanyo Refrigerator was just $20.  A newer Scandinavian electric stove top that would sell at $4000 is $250 here. Bathroom toilets start at $25 and Bathroom sinks starts at $10. A mint Beday toilet was $50. A Jacuzzi bathtub was $100.
There are décor items here too. Artwork poster of flowers was just $5. Some framed palm tree prints were a steal at $5. A box of 12 ceramic bud vases were $10-$15. Some large 5 foot, framed mirrors are $50. An interior Japanese screen was just $10. An 1930’s looking art figurine was just $5. A wall fountain with parrots was just $10.

They demolish roughly 3-4 buildings a month so new stuff comes in regularly. Good items go fast. So if you have a home project or are an artists or DIY-er, you should pop in often.
