Magnolia Commons
This recession has changed some shopping destinations for the better. Cool, funky vintage stores along with antiques stores and consignment stores are popping up all over Burbank lately. New on the scene is The Magnolia Commons. Technically it’s a women’s and gents resale store. But unlike other stiffer consignment stores it has a cool vintage / classy vibe to it that compels you to shop for one of a kind treasures.
Savings run 40%-80% off with the majority in the 50%-75% off range. Everything is mint or near mint, clean and pressed. And the stuff here is elegant, hip, classic and unique spanning 5 decades of fashion.
Everything is in the mix here. From classic attire by St John Knits and Jones New York to trendy hip Juicy Couture and Lyric jeans. The racks are packed with everything from Couture to vintage to department store duds and accessories. I spotted Nicole Miller, Dior, Juicy Couture, BCBG, Georgio Armani, Barneys New York, Versace, Chicos, Chanel, Escada, Ralph Lauren, Ya Ya, Bread & Butter, Laundry and more at some really great prices.
Here’s a sampling of the deals that awaits you here. A Sans Souri off the shoulder jersey dress was a steal at just $12! A Piazza Sempoire wool pant suit was $195 instead of the original $1195. A J Jill wrap dress was another good buy at $21 A Henri Bendel jacket was $30 instead of $120. An Ed Hardy rhinestone tee was $35 instead of $90. A Neiman Marcus cashmere sweater was just $38. Original retail would have been upwards of $160. A Ya Ya resort dress was sweet at $40. A Juicy Couture orange blazer was $34 instead of $130. A vintage Pamela Dennis 1960’s beaded evening set was $65. An Escada 3-piece wool pants suit originally sold at $1500, here it’s $225.
Guys aren’t left out here. The guys collection has a flurry of items that would please any styling guy with pieces by Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Geoffrey Beene, Guess, Lucky Brand, Aqua, Burberry and more. I liked the rugged cowboy boots by Laredo for $80 instead of $400. A Bennett signature shirt was just $20 and a Burberry polo shirt was pried well at $32. Dozens of Fedora hats were priced at $22.
There’s neat selection of fashion bags, though most are knock offs. I did spot a NWT Michael Kors bag at $110 and a Mui Mui quilted satin bag at $160. They also had a good selection of fashion jewelry and shoes ( Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, Mod, Chanel, Karen Scott) to pull together a great look.
Easy to shop right in the middle of shopping district on Magnolia in Burbank, Magnolia Commons should be on your shopping list whenever you’re in the area. Nice people, great service and a well edited, eclectic selection. Sweet.
