If you have big plans for new plants and landscaping, like us, you’re gonna want to try a bigger nursery that that has a wide selection of plants.

If you’re not adding to an existing garden and are re-landscaping on your own, don’t do it without doing a lot of research first and drawing out a plan.

Since we are planning on redoing our front garden ourselves, we headed out to Irwindale to prowl around Garden View Nursery. The pricing here runs from retail to 35% off on landscaping bushes, trees, shrubs etc.  This place is well organized and most if not all the plants are quality and looked healthy.

When we went through we were particularly interested in water wise landscaping, but looked at everything. Plants range in size from a 5 gallon to a 48” box and they carry 1000’s of perennials, shrubs, topiaries, ground covers, flowering, fruit trees, along with waterwise and California natives and succulents

A 5 gallon Spanish lavender is $14.99, a Bougainvillea 5 gallon bush was $16.99. I’ve priced these from $19-$26. A Bouganvillea 5 gallon climber was $19 instead of $38. A Mexican Sage was $12.99 for a 5 gallon. I have priced this at $16.97 at a local Home Depot. Some Blue Oat grass was $16.99 for a 5 gallon. A lavender Lantana was $12.99 for a 5 gallon size.  Some Lions tail was priced at $14.99 for a 5 gallon. Blue Carpet Juniper was also well priced at $16.99 for a 5 gallon. A 5 gallon Butterfly bush was $1499 and a 5 gallon Bird of paradise was $18.99, A 5 gallon pink Jasmine was $16.99

I promised my daughter a tangerine tree so we also priced some of the fruit trees. A Golden Nugget Mandarin Orange tree was $29 for a 5 gallon and $79 for a 15 gallon. A red grapefruit tree and tangelo tree was also $29-$79 … all about retail. But all of them were already bearing fruit.

Delivery varies by area and how much you order and if you need them to plant it for you they will for a fee based on labor.
To save even more money think of transporting most of the plants and planting them yourself . Unless you’ve purchase a very large plant, this should be doable.

Though some of the pricing here is retail, a lot items are well below retail. So if you’re gonna do some landscaping or major gardening this year, Garden View Nursery is worth a visit.
