The recession is tough on teen and young adults. College tuition’s have sky rocketed and many kids are unable to afford to go to college or just going part time. Many of them are starting to look for work without any preparation or training.
Enter the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network Youth Opportunity Center.
If you’ve got teen or young adults hanging around at home who need to get out into the workforce, they can attend a no cost training session at the at the Youth Opportunity Center call now, sessions are starting in January. Their FREE training will get them ready for the world of work and help them earn a nationally recognized work credential to show future employers.
You need to be between the ages of 16-24, motivated to get employed, and live in the South Bay area. Specifically Lomita, Long Beach, Signal Hill, or Torrance.
The no-fee 25-hour program is offered through September 2010. For training dates, information, call 562.570.4700.
Participants will learn and work on developing communication, interpersonal, decision-making and other workplace skills. They’ll get an edge on employment, internship and job shadowing opportunities by earning a nationally recognized work-readiness credential.
