Shopping at kids resale stores when my daughter was little was a real budget saver. She had a great wardrobe and we didn’t have to spend much. Even now at 13, we go in to our local store and I let her pick a couple of items.

I used these stores to pick up books, videos/DVDs, shoes, furniture anything I may have needed at real budget prices.

If you’re not familiar with shopping children’s resale, there are tricks to shopping these stores. Like any resale or thrift store, you have to know labels and how to spot quality. Be familiar with what these brands would normally sell for and where. You’ve gotta have patience and be willing to look everything over with a fine tooth comb in bright light.

The beauty of kids resale is you can sell, trade or consign what your kid has grown out of and get monies/ credit in return to purchase. If you work a store or several resale kids stores in your neighborhood you should be able to get a nice wardrobe together for your infant to pre-teen for 50% less than shopping at a regular store.

Many of these stores I have personally shopped, others I have heard or read about. All have value but the selection and criteria of each store varies by owner, clients and location. Use your own judgment for each, but be prepared to hunt. A good eye will help you find some real steals.
